Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
A UNESCO World Heritage site spanning 331 km² of montane rainforest, Bwindi is home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Daily guided treks lead you along steep, mist-laden trails through giant ferns and towering mahogany, culminating in an intimate, once-in-a-lifetime encounter with a habituated gorilla family. Beyond the primates, the forest teems with endemic orchids, colourful butterflies and the traditional Batwa pygmy community whose expert trackers share ancestral knowledge of the forest’s hidden wonders.
