Karuma Falls

Situated on the Victoria Nile just downstream from Uganda’s largest hydroelectric dam, Karuma Falls features a series of powerful rapids framed by lush riparian forest. Scenic roadside viewpoints and a recently constructed pedestrian bridge allow safe, close-up views of the churning water and riverine birdlife. Adventure seekers can kayak sections of the calmer stretches, while nearby picnic sites shaded by mahogany trees offer a tranquil spot to enjoy the thunderous roar of the falls.
